There is no accuracy penalty for the fast option. The molecular chemistry is the same; STAT changes the queue, not the assay.

Why in-house matters more than the number of hours

Most Houston clinics do not run the test — they collect your sample and ship it out. That is where two to five days go. Same day, start to finish. Sample by 1:00 PM → results at 4:30 PM → if treatment is clinically appropriate, a licensed physician in our partner network sees you between 4:30 and 6:00 PM, a few minutes away. That window is reserved for patients tested here, and your slot is held the moment we take your sample — the slot is held, not hunted. When is same-day testing not the right answer?

Too soon after an exposure. A same-day result only reports infections that are already detectable. Chlamydia and gonorrhea become detectable at roughly 1–2 weeks, syphilis at 3–6 weeks and HIV at 18–45 days, so testing the morning after tells you about your past, not about last night. Go to an ER, not to us, if: you have severe pelvic pain with fever, sudden severe testicular pain and swelling, fever with rash and joint pain, vision or hearing changes, a severe headache with a stiff neck, or you are pregnant and think you have an STI.

STAT cannot speed up blood serology either: syphilis and HIV antibody tests follow their own workflows. And we are closed on weekends, so same-day and STAT results are available Monday to Friday only.
